The Role of the ALMR
The ALMR is the unrivalled network of entrepreneurial retailers and industry suppliers that champions the smaller independent companies that own and operate pubs, bars and restaurants in UK.
The ALMR’s core membership is the smaller independent company that operates managed pubs and bars at every level in the market and where many of these will also have a bias towards food, entertainment and sports. They may be either leasehold or freehold or other ownership basis. The ALMR’s title assumes ‘multiple’ sites but 2 is an acceptable threshold, especially for those planning to expand. The defining characteristic of the ‘core member’ is the extent of the support needed that ALMR can supply.
Campaigning and compliance
ALMR will actively assess the relevance of those key issues that affect operators and will campaign on them ourselves or work in partnership with others to achieve what we want. ALMR will especially look to be proactive in those issues which are profit-relevant to the core membership. The ALMR operates at the centre of the political arena so that it can gain the best and earliest information for Members and be well placed to influence the best outcomes for the core membership in particular and the licensed retail sector in general.

Networking and events
The annual programme of workshops seminars, events and trips underpins ALMR’s distinct reputation. The agenda and purpose of the meetings are as relevant as possible to the needs of the core membership and are never at the expense of our core objectives in regulatory and industry work. The business events support the campaigning and communications by delivering the messages face to face and encouraging operators to transform their trade association into their networking club.
